Promoting academic integrity in the AI era

Promoting academic integrity in the AI era Online

You may have seen news reports and essays about ChatGPT. This new artificial intelligence chatbot can answer questions and explain complex concepts in simple written language. Questions have been raised about the impact of ChatGPT and other AI-driven technologies on academic integrity in a college setting.

The Curriculum & Instruction (C&I) Center will host a virtual workshop at 10:30 on Friday, February 10, to provide an overview of how instructors can develop students’ awareness and understanding of academic integrity and design assessments that discourage plagiarism. In addition, the C&I team will provide a refresher on the tools you can use to identify plagiarism.

Session outcomes:

  • Understand how ChatGPT and other AI-driven technologies impact academic integrity
  • Explore tools and resources to enhance student understanding of academic integrity
  • Apply instructional design best practices to craft assignments that discourage plagiarism
  • Explore existing university tools for detecting plagiarism

Registration is required. A Zoom link for this session will be emailed after registration. See below for registration information.
